  • I’m a principle investigator and lecturer in virology at the university of Leeds. My research group work on understanding how mosquito transmitted viruses like Dengue and Zika take over human and mosquito cells, replicate themselves and cause disease.
  • For a long time we’ve had an interest in archeology in general (I did some volunteer work years ago, on a training dig at Bamburgh castle - but that’s my only digging experience) but also specifically in Palaeolithic archeology/cave art. So the opportunity to take part in a dig within the environment of a cave was probably to good to pass up.
